New Car

The time has come to change our car…why? Well I need something cheaper to run. My current car is A Vauxhall Astra and it eats petrol and the road tax is £250 a year (Ouch)

After looking around for the past few months I’ve decided on a Renault Megane Scenic which is cheaper all over and without even checking it happens that my car insurance is also due for renewal which also means that should be cheaper as well. Luckily we have a very good car centre just down the road and they always seem to give a more personal touch than main dealers and I also like to support our local companies. I really can’t fault Uckfield Motoring Centre and if your ever in the area and looking for a car I suggest you pop in.

After doing the normal checking around it seems my current insurer is actually cheaper. The company I’ve been using since I passed is 1st central Insurance and I honestly can’t fault them. From their UK call centres and longer opening hours.

There is no better feeling than being able to save money. Now we’ve changed cars fingers crossed I should save around £450 a year what with the petrol, car tax and insurance. I have a feeling than the children will be able to spend that extra moment in no time at all.

After travelling down to Cornwall last month we also found that we needed more space as my girls and wife really don’t pack light, you name it they pack it. Next month we are off to Butlins so we will be able to see if we have enough space this time, if not the next step is a Transit van.

Have you got any other tips on how or where to save money?

Happy motoring. I understand completely, I only use my car for going in & out to school but my husband has to drive a lot so we swapped cars & I can’t believe the difference. I can’t wait to change in the summer to something more economical again.

Congrats on your new car! I love the new car feeling (even though I’m always sad to see someone drive away my old car!)
