Sorry if this bores you but this is another CountryKids from our time at Coombe Mill. This time it’s about our walk to the highest Inn in Cornwall.
The Old Inn in St Breward is an amazing proper old style Inn complete with an open fireplace.
The brilliant thing about visiting The Old Inn is the fabulous walk up the hills to get there. When we stayed at Coombe Mill we made sure we had a meal there due to Laura’s grandparents having visited there decades earlier.
We got told the walk up the hills is tough going for little legs and it’s about a mile and a half all up hill but we thought we could carry the girls if they got tired. The first part of the walk takes you through the deer field and into some lovely woods.
So far so good and all eight legs still walking. Once we’d go out into the open and heading towards the sky we had a little look around and noticed about 50 metres behind us was a group of 4 wild horses looking beautiful.
After about 45 minutes we all made it to the top of the hill and came across the beautiful quiet village St Breward and The Old Inn. The meal we had at the Inn was amazing and it really felt like we earn our food. The portion size was incredible and very good value.
I still can’t believe Mia and Aly walked all the way there and back again without any fuss. If must have taken it out of them as they went to sleep early and didn’t wake till late the next morning.
If you plan on staying at Coombe Mill I urge you all to make the trip up to The Old Inn.
