New birthday gallery, Birthday Book, launches at DisneyJunior.co.uk from 7th December

Lucky children will celebrate their birthdays on Disney Junior each month

Disney Junior, the multiplatform brand for children aged 2–7 years and their families, today sees the launch of a birthday gallery on its website, www.disneyjunior.co.uk. Birthday Book will allow parents to upload photographs of their children ahead of their special day as an online memento, with the photos of a lucky few going on to appear on Disney Junior itself.

To upload a photo to Birthday Book, parents or guardians can simply follow the instructions at www.disneyjunior.co.uk. Birthday images on the gallery will appear for the whole month in a special frame featuring Disney Junior’s most popular characters and a random selection will appear on air.

Birthday Book is the most recent addition to Disney Junior’s successful raft of digital initiatives, which includes the recently launched online destination Jake’s World, an immersive experience for children inspired by Disney Junior’s number one rating series, Jake and the Never Land Pirates,  and Superbia, which offers young people the chance to enhance their experience and enjoyment of their favourite Disney Channel shows by creating avatars, decorating their own virtual rooms and visiting the virtual homes of their favourite Disney Channel characters.

Disney Junior’s animated and live action programming blend Disney’s unparalleled storytelling and beloved characters with learning, social and emotional developmental themes designed for children aged 2 – 7, to create a great co-viewing environment for children and families.

Happy Birthday my Baby

Saturday 13th October is my baby girls birthday. Mia will be 2 years old.

Our life changed for the better 2 years ago when Mia was born. She was almost born in the hospital car park but we managed to get Laura into a wheelchair and get her to the delivery suite. 15 mins later Mia was born and what a beauty she is.

It’s different the second time round as you know what to expect and we coped a lot better that when Aly was born.

Everything seemed fine and she came home the next day but little did we know what was in store.

On day 6 of Mia’s little life while feeding at 2am she had a fit and started choking. Holy heck!!!!

This I was not expecting this. Rushing around calling an ambulance and worrying. I then had to call Laura’s mum and dad who only lived across the road to come and look after Aly who was still asleep.

At this point neither of us had been so scared in all our lives. For the next few days Mia had various tests done and she stayed in for 2 days and finally she was allowed home again.

Thankfully she’ll never remember any of this and she’s perfect now. But for us we’ll never forget.

Mia is growing into a beautiful swan and she’ll always be the baby of the family. The way Mia and Aly play together and interact with each other is so lovely to see and I just hope it stays this way even when they’re stealing each others clothes.

Tina Turner, [Anna Mae Bullock] (1938) – Is an American singer and actress whose career has spanned more than 50 years. Surely everyone has heard of her.
Charles Forte, Italian/British hotel magnate (1908)  – was a British caterer and hotelier whose empire included His empire included the Little Chef and Happy Eater roadside restaurants, Crest, Forte Grand, Travelodge and Posthouse hotels, as well as the wine merchant Grierson-Blumenthal and a majority (although non-controlling) stake in the Savoy Hotel.

Flora Call Disney (1938) -  As the name suggests the mother of Walt Disney.  Flora died of asphyxiation caused by the fumes at age 70 in the house Walt bought her. She is entombed next to her husband in Glendale’s Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Dave Cockrum (2006) – was an American comic book artist known for his co-creation of the new X-Men characters Nightcrawler, Storm, and Colossus. Cockrum was also a prolific and inventive costume designer, who updated the uniforms of the Legion of Super-Heroes, and did the same for the new X-Men and many of their antagonists, in the 1970s and early 1980s.
Edna Ruth Parker (2008) – was an American supercentenarian and, until her death, was recognized as the oldest person in the world.  Parker was the 20th verified, undisputed supercentenarian to reach age 115. At the time of her death, Parker was listed as the 11th longest lived person ever. She is also the latest person to hold the title of being the oldest living person for over a year.

On my birthday

Mia’s first year

How time has flown…on Thursday 13th Mia had been in the World for a year and what a year it’s been.

Mia quite literally shot into the World at Haywards Heath hospital. Too say it was a rush would be a lie. On the morning of 13th October 2010 I was off to drop Aly at playgroup and Laura was having a few contractions, half an hour later when I got back she’d got worse so we dashed off to the hospital when Laura thought it would be a great idea to try giving birth in the car park!

Out dashed the whole maternity ward and we managed to get her in a wheelchair and up the the suite and within 15mins Mia was born, just like that. Apart from the mad panic her she was our little bundle.

After a few hours Aly was on her way to great her baby sister and she was so excited. Everything seemed pretty normal however….

At 2am on the her 6th day of being in the World after her night feed she had a fit in Laura’s arms, I was half asleep and Laura screamed! Up I shot and in a blur phoned 999 and tried to stay calm but that wasn’t working, Laura crying but she was great. I phoned her mum when the ambulance was on its way to come and look after Aly who was sound asleep.

I have to say those few hours from when it happened to when she was in A&E I have never been so scared. Seeing her with tubes and needles coming out of her tiny body was not an image I ever want to see again.

Mia luckily was ok and in the best possible place and we stayed there for the next few days and can’t thank the hospital enough. It turned out she had reflux and and a virus and we got the advise we needed to deal with it.

Thankfully the next 11months went without too much trouble and she’s a little warrior.


The next few months are some of the best when she starts to walk and talk. She’ll soon be chasing Aly around the house an garden.

Can’t believe Mia is almost 1

Can’t believe my little Mia is almost one. In under a months time she will be 1 year old and how the last year has flown!!

So much has happened in that year.

She got rushed to hospital when she was only 6 days old and that was without doubt the scariest thing that has ever happened in mine and I would guess Laura’s life.

Aly has had her 1st eye operation in that time. She’s getting better but she will need another operation.

I’ve changed jobs twice and passed my driving test.

Laura has found something she enjoys (no not work) making jewellery.

As Mia grows up you remember all the brilliant things that you’d forgotten they do. Like trying to stand up on their own and eating on their own. The difference this time around is before Aly had to learn everything from us but this time you can see Mia watching Aly and trying to copy her like jumping up and down on the bed etc.

The last 12 months have been great but the next 12 months where she learns to walk and talk will be better. I might not be saying that when they are both talking away at 6am.
