Family Days Out

The Summer is here and for our family it’s all about trying to keep the children entertained without breaking the bank.

Earlier in the year we had our family holiday so there will be no week away so our time will be spent having fun in the local area and the odd day or two somewhere. We have just had a weekend away at Chessington which is was a new hotel that wasn’t even open yet and the girls loved that so much.

Luckily for us the weather has been amazing so that has meant many days enjoying the garden and local woods which is perfect as that’s free.

For us family days out aren’t always about spending lots of money to attend a theme park or driving for miles for get to a place. We’re very lucky as we live in the South of England we have lots of fun and exciting places to visit.

One of our favourite things to do as a family is to get on the train to visit Brighton which is a brilliant place to take the children. A couple of weeks ago we ventured down there and visited the local Sea Life centre which is always fun and then afterwards we spend hours walking along the pier and along the seafront. Of course no trip to the sea side without stopping off for some fish n chips and finished off with an ice cream.

My girls are real animal lovers so one thing we always try to do is visit a local farm. During the Summer months you’ll often find most of them have special events running and a few of the smaller ones will allow you to hold and feed the animals. One that we went to the other week also had tractor rides just for the children which they loved…again you’ll find a lot of these have special offers running at certain times.
The final part of our Summer is always made up of going to a local Pick Your Own. This is fun for the whole family and to make it a whole day out we make sure that the one that we go to has somewhere nearby to have a picnic. It’s good cheap fun and our girls have more fun doing something like this rather than a day queuing in a theme park.
