Oxo Shake and Flavour

If it’s quick and easy I am hooked…if it also included food then all the better. So when the chance to try out the new OXO Shake & Flavour I was very keen.

Oxo Shake and Flavour

I’d never heard of them before but I had a good idea as to what they are. OXO Shake & Flavour is a handy shaker pack is filled with fine seasoning granules that can either be sprinkled into food before or during the cooking process or added as a finishing touch before serving and they are available in the following flavours Chicken, Beef, Garlic and Herb, Tikka, Chinese Style, Southern Fried and Italian.

Now to try these out. The first one I used was the garlic and herb one. The plan was to use this flavour on some potatoes. What I done was cut some new potatoes in half and part boiled them. While that was happening I placed a glass dish with a little oil in the oven to heat up. Once the potatoes we’re ready I drained them and then added 2tbs of the garlic and herb and made sure the potatoes got covered in it. I then roasted the potatoes for about 35mins.

To go with this I fancied treating myself to a little steak. For the steam I used the Oxo Shake and Flavour beef. I used 2tbs mixed with 2tbp of olive oil and some soy sauce. Once mixed together I coated the steak and let it marinate over night. Make sure you take the steak out of the fridge about 20 minutes before cooking so it can come to room temperature. Depending on how you like the meat cooked I cooked it for 4 minutes on each side. The smells from the shake was incredible. Added with a little salad and the meal was complete.

The flavours created with these shakes was incredible. It added an incredible taste to the steak and it is one I will repeat again. I am normally one who likes it plain but this has changed my mind completely. The flavour on the potatoes was delicious and it worked really well with the new potatoes and i think if used on roast potatoes I think it would add a great twist on the traditional potato. The girls don’t like anything but plain potatoes but they also enjoyed the taste and actually asked for more.

We also used the Chinese Oxo Shake and Flavour for a stir fry.

To create this great family meal.

  • Heat a little oil in a wok.
  • Add a handful of cashew nuts and fry for 30 seconds, remove from the pan and set aside.
  • Add a touch more oil if needed to the wok and add your chosen veg (we used peppers, mushrooms, garlic, mange tout, spring onions and onion)
  • Stir fry for 3 – 5 minutes
  • Add 2 – 3 tablespoons of soy sauce + 1 1/2 tablespoons of Chinese Oxo Shake and Flavour and add in the cashew nuts and fry for a further 2 minutes.
  • I also added some cooked prawns, spinach and pre cooked broccoli towards the end.

This was very easy to make and the Chinese flavour really brought the stir fry to life without being too strong that the girls didn’t enjoy it.

I really recommend these, whether it’s for a BBQ or to bring something different to your roast chicken you’ll find something for any meal.
